Yifan Wang is a Ph.D. candidate at Leiden University, supervised by prof. Matthijs van Leeuwen. She is working on the project ‘Human-Centered Interpretable Machine Learning’, with a particular interest in combining Minimum Description Length (MDL)–based model selection with interpretable machine learning approaches.
Before joining Leiden University, Yifan obtained her bachelor's degree in Statistics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and later received a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Amsterdam.
Beyond her research, Yifan is interested in literary fiction and graphic design, with a broader interest in how ideas are expressed and interpreted.
